From the Blotter

Post-predicament

A Waynesboro man was knocked unconscious during a weekend party at the American Legion post on Highway 80.

The 24-year-old victim told Burke County deputies he was attacked by two women and two men who thought he was talking to the girlfriend of one of them.

Several hours later, two of the people accused in the attack called Waynesboro police when someone opened fire on their vehicles in Magnolia Acres.

Police confirmed that bullet holes were found in both cars.

Strike up the band

Two Waynesboro men exchanged blows over loud music last Monday.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the fight began when a houseguest was asked several times to turn down the radio.

When he refused, the homeowner unplugged the radio and was subsequently struck across the head with a stick.

The homeowner allegedly returned the favor with a bottle over the houseguest's head. The case was turned over to investigators.

Mailbox maladies

Six Burke County residents had mailbox troubles last week.

Folks on Greiner Circle, Hometract Road, Greens Cut Road, Spring Branch Road and Herndon Road reported that their mailboxes were knocked down or damaged.

While a driver did call police after accidentally striking one of the boxes, the culprits for the others have not been identified.

Hard evidence

Bond recovery agents escaped injury after a wanted man threw a gun at them.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, agents were trying to apprehend 27-year-old Marquis Dylan Crawford on Perry Street when he chucked a chrome revolver at them and got away.

According to the report, Crawford is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess any type of firearm.
