Feed-A-Kid

The Burke County Board of Education will again be operating the Summer School Nutrition (Feed-A-Kid) Program. The dates of operation will be May 28- July 27.

Anyone interested in having a new site in their area should contact Susan Dixon at the school nutrition office, 706-554- 5393.

Scholarship

The Burke County Women in Business Council is accepting applications for its 2007 scholarship.

The $800 scholarship will be awarded to a female high school senior who excels academically and is a leader in her school and community.

Anyone interested should see her school counselor for an application. All applications must be turned into the school counselor no later than April 11.

Pre-prom fashion show

In conjunction with David's Bridal and After Hours, Burke County High School will have a pre-prom fashion show 4 p.m. March 21, in the JD Smith auditorium.

Juniors and seniors will model the latest attire for prom. There is no charge for the event, and the public is invited.

Golf tournament

Botsford Baptist Church will sponsor a golf tournament Saturday, March 24, at the Waynesboro Country Club. The format is four man scramble. The cost is $80 per team or $20 per person.

Pre-k registration

Pre-k registration for Burke County schools will be Saturday, March 17. Registration will begin 8:30 a.m. at both S.G.A. Elementary and Waynesboro Primary schools, and enrollment will be on a first-come firstserve basis.

WPS has 220 slots available, and S.G.A. has 60.

Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2007 to enter the pre-k program in the fall. Parents should bring a certified copy of the child's birth certificate, a Georgia Certificate of Immunization, a copy of the child's Social Security card, proof of residency and a record of the eye, ear and dental examination.

Chorale auditions Augusta Children's Chorale (ACC) is auditioning interested singers for the 2007-2008 season.

Auditions are available to children in third-eighth grade.

Both training and performance choirs offer in-depth vocal choral training with local, national and international performance opportunities.

A limited number of openings will be filled. Scholarships are available. Call the ACC at 706- 826-4718.

Concert

The annual Select Choral Concert will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Burke County High School.

Choruses representing second- 12th grade will perform, and students from BCHS, Burke County Middle, S.G.A. Elementary, Blakeney Elementary and Waynesboro Primary School will participate. The middle and high school selections will include numbers that will be adjudicated at the Georgia Music Educators Association's Tenth District Festival.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Late church news

McElmurray Tabernacle Baptist Church will celebrate its 17th pastoral anniversary 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25.

The Rev. Benjamin Ryans will be guest speaker.
