Mr. Forrest Lyndell Mitchell Mr. Forrest Lyndell Mitchell, 90, of Girard entered into rest on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Brentwood Terrace Health Center. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Burke Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro with the Rev. Yonce Lively and the Rev. Jesse France officiating. He was born on Jan. 13, 1917 in Greenfield, Tenn., to the late Ezra E. Mitchell and Katie Black Mitchell. He had lived in this area for the past 60 years. He retired after 44 years of service from the Burke County Road Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during WWII, and a member of the Bonnell-Hickman American Legion Post 180 / Sardis. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Miriam Mallard Mitchell; a son, Tom "Bo John" Mitchell (Janice) of Girard; a daughter, Linda Maxine Hopper (Herman) of Hiram, GA; a sister, Carrie Lee Reeder (Joe) of McKenzie, Tenn.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Toby Lovett, Tom Mobley, Henry Glisson, Todd Lane, Grady Mobley, Avner DeLaigle, Grady "Bubba" Callison, and Joe Frazier. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Bonnell- Hickman American Legion Post 180/Sardis. The family received friends at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home in Waynesboro from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16.
