By Bonnie K. Taylor General Manager The True Citizen
I received an email from our columnist Ronda Rich last week. She said she ran into an old school chum of mine, Rod Drake.
Rod is head of Georgia Power in Cherokee County and was attending an event where Ronda was the guest speaker.
He told her he was from Waynesboro and she told him The True Citizen was carrying her column.
Rod is the son of Margaret Drake of Waynesboro and the late Lamar Drake. His wife, Becky, is the daughter of the late Bill and Edna McClellan of Waynesboro.
****** Ronnie North brought me a copy of his CD that he recorded in memory of his mother, Lillian North. The CD is a collection of her gospel favorites. Ronnie, I enjoyed listening to your music.

Rupert Ellison of Sardis called the other day for sign prices for a friend of his.
As we talked he told me he helped construct the building The True Citizen is in.
Many of you probably remember it as the old IGA building. Mr. Ellison, it was nice talking with you!

Andy Adams, who delivers The True Citizen in north Burke County, was seriously injured in an accident last week on U.S. Highway 25 North.
Although his recovery will take a long time, we wish him a complete and speedy return to normal duties.
****** To the family of Burke County Commissioner Woodrow Harvey, I extend my heartfelt condolences.
Mr. Woodrow has served Burke County faithfully since the early '80s. He was a true leader for our county serving all Burke Countians.
He will truly be missed by his family and his county.

My husband, Eddie, and I had the pleasure of a horse and carriage ride at Mobley's Cafeteria Friday evening as part of their Valentine's celebration.
"Tom" and "Jerry" led our carriage.
Although is was a bit on the chilly side, we thoroughly enjoyed the ride up West Sixth Street to Jones Avenue and back.
Lil'Dub Harper and his wife, Cindy, rode in our carriage. Cindy and I practiced our beauty pageant wave to passersby.
It was quite a treat to see the look on folks faces as we pulled by cars. They were not expecting to see a horse-drawn carriage in downtown Waynesboro.
Thanks to Roy Black, co-owner of Mobleys, just another reason to stay at home and enjoy local entertainment!
