By Allen Smith Staff Writer

LaQuita Brady wrestles the ball free from a Greenbrier player.
Burke County's Lady Bears scored two points in the second period as their 3-point lead turned into a 15-point deficit against Greenbrier Saturday night. Burke County lost 67-39.

In the loss, Jessica Davis scored 16 points and Yasma Lynch put up 10. Nancy Wright scored her only 2 points in the second pe- riod.

Greenbrier's quick speed forced many turnovers in the second. The Lady Bears passed high and Greenbrier reeled it in. Lazy passes also turned into Lady Wolf Pack possessions.

"We told the girls they were not going to be able to pass over the top," Coach Angelica Collins said, "but in the heat of battle, you don't always remember everything."

Friday night, the Lady Bears lost to Hephzibah, 79-45. In the loss, Davis again led the Lady Bears with 17 points. Lynch added 14, while Synquis Givens scored 8.

This week, Burke County plays at Richmond Hill Friday and host Lakeside Saturday. They played South Effingham Tuesday, but scores were not available at press time.
