Burke County runs over Liberty County for region win

      The Bears are getting used to winning ballgames, and they couldn't have better timing. Burke County showed what they were capable of last Friday night when they kicked off region play against Liberty County High School. The Bears sent the Panthers home with their tails tucked, handing them a 20-7 loss.

Lady Spartans boast best fast-pitch season

      The 2007 season for Lady Spartan softball ends as one of the best. The girls finished the season with eight wins - more than any fastpitch team at Edmund Burke Academy has ever accomplished. "I think this year was a great season," head coach Aaron Phillips said. "The girls worked so hard ... my seniors were great leaders and showed it on and off the field.

Runners improve times at region

      Edmund Burke Academy's cross country runners competed in the Region AA meet Monday, Oct. 15, and brought in some of their best times of the season. The most notable finish, according to coach Jon Duggan, came from Kyle Wilson, who finished the 3.2-mile run in fifth place with a time of 18:35.
