Burke County Schools help United Way

The Burke County School System began its United Way Kick-Off on Aug. 28. With the help of Chris Henry and Amy Nunnally, representatives from United Way, Mack Thomas, Dee Dee Kurilla, Wendell Smith and Elmer Pickett, visited each school to promote the services United Way provides for the CSRA. School system employees learned the United Way helps youth succeed, strengthens families and individuals and provides emergency services. By dialing 211 you can get connected to the agency or organization that can assist you with your need. By donating $144 to the United Way, you can also become a member of the Caring Club and receive discounts and special offers from area merchants throughout the year. The Burke County School System set a goal of $10,000 and has already reached the halfway mark. From left are United Way representatives, Mack Thomas, Dee Dee Kurilla and Wendell Smith.
