Fair entries

Exhibit hall entries are needed for the Burke County Fair set for Oct. 16-20.

Waynesboro Exchange Club Exhibit Hall Chairman Robert Parrish said the hall is open to commercial, non-profit and educational exhibits.

There is a fee and positions are available on a first come-first serve basis. For more information, contact Parrish at 706-554- 8037.

Democratic Party

The Democratic Party of Burke County will meet 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Burke County Library.

All interested parties are asked to attend.

Vidette School reunion

A reunion of all former students and friends of Vidette School will be held 11 a.m.-until Saturday, Oct. 13, at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Vidette.

Book club The Sardis branch of the Burke County Library will hold its first book club meeting 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Sardis location.

BCHS School Council

The School Council of Burke County High School will meet 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the conference room at BCHS.

Church news

Brown Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its eighth youth ministry anniversary 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30.

The Rev. Jerry Dudley and members of his church, Jones Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Louisville, will be special guests.

The public is invited.


Bethany Methodist Church will hold its annual Homecoming 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30.

The Rev. Bill Brown will be guest speaker.

A covered dish lunch will follow in the social hall.

Sunday School Union

The Waynesboro Sunday School Union will hold classes 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Metropolitan Baptist Church.

All Sunday School teachers and students are invited.


The annual Fair-On-The- Square sponsored by the Millen Better Hometown will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, on the courthouse square in Millen.

Activities include arts, crafts, entertainment, food, rides and games for the children, as well as a parade beginning at 10 a.m. A flower show, "The Spirit of October," will be held at the Millen Library noon-4 p.m.

The Burke County branch of the NAACP will hold a Voters Registration Drive 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at 321 W. Ninth St., Waynesboro.
