Seeing green

Above, farmers observe the effects of several different plant growth regulator (PGR) treatments on cotton at the Southeast Georgia Research and Education Center's annual field day last Wednesday. The field day is held at the University of Georgia's Midville facility to educate growers and others in the industry about research developments. At right, farmers sift through several varieties of peanuts pulled from a test plot at the center. The PGR evaluation and variety trials represent only a fraction of the numerous experiments currently being conducted at the recently revived facility. Scientists and researchers from around the state test varieties of crops and production methods in the unique conditions there.
