      Only a flesh wound A Waynesboro couple was jailed Saturday after shots were fired on West 13th Street. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the three victims, who included teenage twins, were allegedly walking along the road just after midnight when they heard Joni Gill, 22, using fighting words toward their family members who lived near her.

Burke County road to be closed Monday

      State Route 305 in Burke County will be closed for railroad crossing maintenance beginning 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, and ending at noon Tuesday, Aug. 7, weather permitting. An official detour route will be posted. Traffic will detour using State Route 80 and Gough Spur.
