And she's off

Anna, a three-legged stray who's attracting national attention, set off on her journey to Spanaway, Wash. She'd been up for adoption since January when she was found alongside the Burke County roadside. Waynesboro residents Irene Pitts and Sam Heddinger gave Anna a foster home and nursed her back to health while members of the Old Fella Animal Rescue began searching for a permanent home. Richard Daniels, pictured with Anna above, found that home through the Open Roads Forum, a blog for RVers. The only problem? It was 3,000 miles away. Since then, RVers from across the states have agreed to get behind the wheel to make Anna's cross country trip a reality. The "relay" began Thursday morning when Anna set off for Cullman, Ala., with Daniels, his wife, Sue and Old Fella. Since then, Anna has boarded with three other RVing families, and, at press time Tuesday, was in route from Tulsa, Okla., to Los Angeles County, Calif., where she'll stop off for two days of R&R before her last pit stop in Oregon. According to Daniels, both NBC News and Discovery Channel will air specials about Anna's journey.
