From the Blotter One potato The owner of Burke Feed & Farm Supplies called the cops last weekend after finding a shattered front door. When a deputy arrived, he showed him what looked like bullet holes in his potato bin and back wall. The deputy cut open a potato and found a .22 caliber bullet inside. Cussin' cousins Two teenage girls were detained for cursing at police. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, officers were trying to diffuse an unruly crowd at the Huddle House around 2 a.m. last Saturday when a policeman was hit on the shoulder with an unknown object. The officer turned to the table from which it had been thrown and asked everyone to leave. A 16-year-old Waynesboro girl refused to do so and began cursing at the officer, the report said. While officers tried to arrest the juvenile for disorderly conduct, her 18-year-old cousin, Shequila Lewis, stepped outside and joined in the cursing. Both were transported to the Burke County Jail. Washington bullet A Washington state couple grew concerned when they heard something hit the passenger side door of their SUV last Tuesday. They called deputies when they realized "that something" was a bullet. According to the incident report, the couple was traveling on Highway 24 South toward their summer home in Alexander when someone apparently shot at them.
