      Two Georgia men who spend weekends collecting native plant species got to collect jail stories after they brought their shovels to Burke County.

Cousins charged in Molotov bombing
      Arrest warrants were issued for two cousins accused of tossing a gasoline bomb through a bedroom window. Terrell Hughes and Joseph Bates, both 21, are charged with arson in the first degree, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

BCHS student threatens violence in note
      A Burke County Middle School student is facing disciplinary action after penning a note foretell- ing a shooting at the school. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, a handwritten note was discovered in the girls' restroom stating, "There will be a shoot out at 2:15 p.m. 4/11/07 8th hallway Blood Death.

      One potato The owner of Burke Feed & Farm Supplies called the cops last weekend after finding a shattered front door. When a deputy arrived, he showed him what looked like bullet holes in his potato bin and back wall. The deputy cut open a potato and found a .22 caliber bullet inside.
