Hibernation is over for the Bears. Workouts for potential football players started several weeks ago and have intensified over the past couple of weeks, according to head coach Eric Parker. Just ask the Bears. In Burke County High School's (9-6) match up against Richmond Hill High School Friday, the Wildcats scored all of their eight runs in one inning. They defeated the Bears 8-2. Five Burke County High School athletes have been recognized for their basketball skills. Junior Maurice Doyle was named to The Augusta Chronicle's all-area first team as a center. Forward Davonda Lewis, also a junior, was selected for second team. More ... Alan Matthews, 11, bagged his first turkey while hunting with his grandfather, Jimmy Clark, at the Burke County Hunting Club on March 24. The turkey weighed in at 23 pounds, and this was Alan's first time ever turkey hunting. He is the son of Bob and Tanya Matthews of Hephzibah and is a student at Edmund Burke Academy. More ... |
