Molotov cocktail fails to explode
      A root beer bottle may have spared the home of a Waynesboro man. He escaped injury when a burning Molotov cocktail was tossed through the bedroom window of his West Seventh Street trailer early Sunday morning.

NY police track fugitive to Burke
      A Waynesboro man will be extradited to New York where he is wanted for sodomizing a juvenile. New York State Police Inves- tigator Lance Aguiar contacted Burke County deputies Friday after receiving information that the suspect, 56-year-old Ronald Beard, was living in the area.

      A local man was beaten and robbed as he walked home from the grocery store last Sunday. Residents called police when they saw a bleeding man, later identified as Bennie Walker, 48, walking down West Seventh Street. According to Sgt.

      Where's my beer? An intoxicated man may have been the culprit behind his own missing beer. Deputies responded to a River Road residence on Friday, April 6, in reference to a stolen 12-pack of beer. According to the report, the man said he had been in his yard drinking and that someone stole his beer. Officers advised him to check the area to make sure he hadn't drunk it himself.

Child injured in four-wheeler accident
      A young girl escaped serious injury in a Friday afternoon fourwheeler accident. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the 8-year-old victim was riding on the back of a fourwheeler, which was driven by another 8-year-old, when her jacket got caught up in a rear wheel.

      The following arrests and citations were reported last week by the Waynesboro Police Department: Saturday, March 31 + Nancy Melinda Wright, 18, of 1033 Grubb St., Waynesboro, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Sunday, April 1 + Benjamin Martin, 49, of Wadley, was arrested for operation of a vehicle with suspended registration (first offense).
