After two wins during the 2- AA Region tournament last week, Edmund Burke Academy's Lady Spartans took a third place region finish and claimed their spot in the state playoffs. More ... Basketball season came to an end last week for Edmund Burke Academy's Spartans, who were eliminated from the Region 2- AA tournament by a 48-34 loss to Frederica Academy. They finish the season with a 1-17 record. The Burke County High School baseball team hit the diamond last week in preparation for their upcoming season. The Bears are looking for a good year with the return of all four pitchers, according to head coach Todd Booker. "Those guys were a big reason for our success last year," he said. Burke County wrestler Marcus Stephens claimed the region championship for his 125-lb. class, then followed up last week with a fourth place state win at the Gwinnett Arena - the highest spot ever earned by a Burke County High School wrestler.
