Meth lab discovered in Keysville

      An employee at an auto parts store helped officers uncover a meth lab operation in a Keysville home. Since January, the Waynesboro Police Department (WPD) had been getting tips that Mark Winter Sr., 46, might be making methamphetamine.

Police cut out unlocking service

      If you lock your keys in your car, don't expect the Waynesboro Police to come to your rescue. Police Chief Karl E. Allen says his agency is cutting out the free service they've offered for the past 11 years. "Liability is the main reason," he said, referring to unintentional vehicle damage. Stabbing suspect arrested in Richmond County

      The Hephzibah teen accused in a Waynesboro stabbing was arrested in Richmond County Saturday for slashing someone else. David Paul Sandoval, 18, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. According to Sgt. Scott Peebles of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Sandoval allegedly cut the victim in the stomach during a fight.

      Not your average Cupid A Valentine's Day thief tried to pedal away with more than $100 in merchandise, but the helium balloons that trailed him were spotted by police several blocks away. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, Norris Washington, 43, allegedly helped himself to two valentine bear baskets and a Bratz doll that were inside a florist delivery vehicle.

Bailiffs receive pay increase

      Bailiffs in Burke County will now see higher numbers on their paychecks. After receiving a request from Burke County Sheriff Greg Coursey, the commissioners granted a $5.30 hourly increase to the bailiffs' salaries during the commission's meeting last Tuesday night.
