Mr. John Joseph Mobley

It is with great sadness that the death of John Joseph Mobley is announced.

John passed away on Nov. 26, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 29) at First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro with Father Dominique Duggan and the Rev. Marshall Singletary officiating.

Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Born Sept. 18, 1958, John was the seventh child of Robert and Marie Mobley of Sardis.

As one of twelve children, John enjoyed a lively and active childhood in Sardis with his brothers and sisters. After graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1976 at Edmund Burke Academy, John attended the University of Georgia where he obtained his BBA in accounting in 1980, cum laude. He practiced as a CPA for two years in Albany for Mauldin Jenkins PC and returned to the University of Georgia to earn his MBA in finance in 1984. Thereafter, John settled in Atlanta and managed a thriving financial planning practice with GV Financial Advisors.

John was fiercely devoted to his clients and he was highly respected by his peers and clients for his intelligence, sincerity and trustworthiness.

John was an avid golfer and he enjoyed playing spirited matches almost every weekend with his regular group at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta. He also enjoyed many a lively match with his brothers and nephews at the Waynesboro Country Club, and he was a con- stant source of encouragement to his young nephews, who love the game as much as he did.

During his lifetime, John gathered around him a wonderful group of friends who we sincerely thank for being with him throughout this journey.

He will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father and a friend.

John is survived by his wife of 21 years, Joy; his 2-year-old son, John Joseph Mobley Jr.; his parents, Robert and Marie Mobley; and his brothers and sisters and their spouses: Robert Mobley Jr. and Pauline Beard, James and Deborah Mobley and David Mobley, all of Waynesboro, Dr. Mary Mobley of Augusta, Dr. Michael Mobley and Debbie Mobley and Elizabeth Mobley, all of Savannah, Margaret and Tom Fisher of Brunswick, Dr. Kathleen Mobley and Dr. Aziz Al'Khafaji of New Port Richey, Fla., Anne Mobley of Birmingham, MI, and William and Laura Mobley and Joan and Tommy Nelson, all of Evans.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Mobley, Roy Jenkins, Robert Mobley Jr., Dr. Michael Mobley, William Mobley, James Mobley and David Mobley.
