Runoff to be held Dec. 5

With a few close races yet to be decided, voters are once again encouraged to exercise their civic duty and vote in Tuesday's General Election Runoff. The runoff is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 5, but advance voting is already occurring, with an estimated 50 people having cast their ballots.

The races that will be decided in the runoff are Public Service Commissioner and Superior Court Judge of the Augusta Judicial Circuit. The race for Public Service Commissioner is between incumbent Democrat David L. Burgess and Republican Chuck Eaton. The nonpartisan race for Superior Court Judge to succeed William M. Fleming Jr. is between J. David Roper and William J. "Bill" Williams.

Advance voting will continue through Friday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Burke County Court House. The polls open on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
