Basketball season begins
Basketball practice is in full swing for Edmund Burke Academy's Lady Spartans. The girls began practice earlier this month and have already participated in the Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) Tournament, falling to Robert Toombs, 39-30, and PCA, 53-32. Despite those loses, head coach Lindsay Belcher said she is pleased with the improvement she has seen from the players and is looking forward to a good season. While the men's team has yet to begin practice due to football playoffs, some members scrimmaged against the girls' team on Monday. The Lady Spartans will begin regular season play at home Tuesday, Nov. 28, against Brentwood Academy. Members of the varsity team include seniors Amy Bunn, Hannah Harkins, Kasey Land, Kitty Pierson and Kris Lovett; juniors Allie Lewis, Caroline Collins and Katie Kittrell; sophomores Ashley Bowman, Emily Anne Bunn, Katie Atkinson and Kayla Milligan; and freshman Carly Saxon.
