From the Blotter A homeowner complained to police after someone flooded a Waynesboro residence by breaking in and turning on all of the faucets. The water caused damage to the floors and walls, as well as mold and mildew on some of the walls, according to a report. Officers observed signs of forced entry through the front door and a bathroom sink faucet still flowing with a stopper in the drain. Puddles of water remained standing on the floors. Pot patrol Police halted a Waynesboro man's door-to-door marijuana route last week. According to a report, the man was riding his bicycle around asking to buy marijuana. He told officers that his cousin had purchased "some bad weed," and he was trying to get to the bottom of it. He said he planned to turn the poor quality drugs over to police after his purchase. Refund rip-off A Waynesboro juvenile swindled nearly $300 from Wal-Mart on a deceptive computer return. Store associates reported that the girl returned a Compaq computer and pocketed a hefty refund. Employees opened the box afterwards to discover a Dell computer inside. The girl's aunt told police the girl pulled the switch on purpose. The case was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Freedom of religion Deputies had a bit of trouble trying to return a Waynesboro woman who walked away from a personal care home over the weekend. The owner of the home reported the missing woman to deputies Saturday night. However, when the woman was located at a local church the following morning, the homeowner refused to come pick her up. She asked deputies to take the woman back where they found her. When the deputies explained they could not do so, she asked them to take her to the county jail and test her for drugs instead. She didn't want the incident "to mess up her Sunday at church." Though the deputies explained that the woman had not broken any laws, the owner still refused to pick her up. After a quick trip to the law enforcement center, a health care service advised them to take the woman to the hospital where she was evaluated by a counselor. The personal care home owner later retrieved her resident, and a follow-up appointment was made with the counselor. Bottled-up anger Two Waynesboro men reported being hit with beer bottles by unknown assailants over the weekend. The first incident occurred early Sunday morning when a patron of Club Paradise reported being struck in the forehead with a bottle during a fight. He took a trip to the emergency room for stitches. The second bottle beating took place late Monday night when a beer bottle was broken over a man's head and he was hit in the face. The offender pulled the victim's shirt over his head, so he could not identify his attacker. In a rut A covert ditch digger has been reportedly digging ruts across a road in the county. A resident of Asbury Church Road told deputies he almost wrecked when he hit the ruts while pulling his jet ski. He added that this was not the first time someone dug ruts across the road. While he thought it might be a neighbor doing the digging, deputies were not able to contact the person in question. |
