Golf cart bandits

After a man fell asleep on his front porch, he woke up to discover his cigarettes and non-alcoholic beer had been stolen.

The victim had been sitting on the front porch of his residence with Donnie William Thurmond Jr. He awoke to noise inside the home, at which time he and his wife discovered his cigarettes and lighter were missing. He then checked the refrigerator and saw his six-pack of non-alcoholic beer and four wine coolers were also gone. The victim told his wife to get in the truck, ride down the road and see if she saw anyone.

According to the report, the wife saw a man sleeping in a golf cart on the side of the road and the non-alcoholic beer, one wine cooler and cigarettes were in the back. When she woke the man up, he told her Thurmond was inside the house stealing.

Thurmond gave back the cigarettes, lighter and non-alcoholic beer. He was arrested for burglary.

Gold-burglar

A Sardis woman was arrested after she used a counterfeit cashier's check to make a past due payment at Goldberg's Furniture. Hazel Denise Rhodes went to the furniture store to pay a past due amount of $519.05 with a cashier's check from MCAS for $4,900. According to a report, the store did not have sufficient funds to cover the check, so an employee and Rhodes cashed the check at a local bank. Goldberg's kept $519.05 and gave the remainder to Rhodes.

Later that day, the store was notified by the bank that the check was counterfeit and that $4,900 would be taken from the store's account.

A store employee attempted to contact Rhodes concerning the matter, but she refused to discuss it. She was arrested for theft by deception.

I nude it was you

A Burke County woman filed a complaint after her family told her there were nude photos of her all over town.

The woman told police that a Waynesboro man stole the nude photographs from her residence and that she later found out from family members the photos had been "put up" all over Waynesboro.

Police advised the woman to report the theft of the photographs to the Burke County Sheriff's Department.
