Class of '98

The Burke County High School class of 1998 will hold its first meeting to begin making plans for the 10-year class reunion 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, at the Burke County Library.

All members of the class are asked to attend.

Dinner sale

The Sportsmen Social Club will sell leg quarter dinners 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in front of Rowell Electric. The dinners will consist of a leg quarter, corn on the cob, string beans, cake and bread.

Rummage sale

Mission of Christ Church will hold a rummage sale 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, behind Watkinsville Baptist Church on Highway 14 South.

Prayer and praise rally

A prayer and praise rally will be held at the Burke County Office Park 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.

The format of the event will be prayer and praise; there will be no speakers - only periods of prayer concentrated on specific topics of interest.

Diabetic teaching

Free diabetic teaching will be offered at Burke Medical Center Thursday, Aug. 10, from 68 p.m.

Space is limited. Call Pansy Agerton in the dietary department at 706-554-4435.

Participants are encouraged to bring the person who prepares their meals.

Childbirth classes

Childbirth classes will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 7,8, 14 and 15, at the Enterprise Community Healthy Start office, 315 S. Liberty St., Suite C, Waynesboro.

Class topics include various stages of labor, breathing and relaxation and how to care for yourself and your new baby.

Slip 'n' Slide

The youth department of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church will hold a back to school water and fun activity party 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11.

All youths are welcome to bring water toys.

Genealogical society

Burke County Genealogical Society will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at the Burke County Library.

The speaker will be Thomas Reynolds, and he will discuss the history of the railroad in Burke County.

The public is invited.

Bible Play School

Registration packets for First Baptist Church's Bible Play School are now available in the church office for children six weeks through age 4.
