From the Blotter Police responded to a report that a 50-year-old man hit his 46-year-old sister with a dead raccoon at their home on Hillhouse Street last Friday. The woman told police the altercation began when she accused her brother of letting someone use her outside water spigot. She said her brother began cursing and yelling at her, saying he did let someone use her water. He then struck her in the face with a dead raccoon he had been cleaning. The man told police he did throw the raccoon at his sister, but only after she hit him with her phone. Police noted the brother could not give a written statement at the time because he was intoxicated. The man retrieved his property from the residence and left without incident. Officers advised him not to return. When animals don't attack Burke County deputies responded to several complaints of livestock roaming freely last week. Police responded on Sunday to a man's report of goats eating his trees on his Dixon Hendrix Road property. The man told police the owner of the goats told him he could do away with them. In a June 28 incident, a longhorn steer escaped from its pen and began grazing near McManus Road. Deputies advised the owner of the steer it was not okay for livestock to roam freely due to possible accidents with vehicles traveling down McManus Road. In a June 30 incident, deputies responded to another man's complaint that longhorns were running loose on McManus Road. The man also told police someone in a small blue car was cutting doughnuts in his front yard. When told to leave, the driver said "(expletive) you white boy! I'm chasing my cows!" Officers were unable to find any escaped livestock in the area. Huddle louses A fight at Huddle House involving more than 100 people resulted in theft and property damage, according to reports filed by the Waynesboro Police Department. Officers noticed the crowd forming around 3 a.m. and attempted to disperse them using pepper spray. Some left, but many still remained, taunting the officers. Police then targeted the instigators, and the situation began to deescalate. A car was damaged during the fight when several men were thrown against it. Another man reported a woman stole $300 and a set of keys valued at $250 from his car. He told police the woman did, however, return the cell phone she had taken. Hot sauce for hot tempers Officers responded to Pilgrim Way to a report of a fight between a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy last Wednesday. The conflict occurred after the mothers of the children went shopping, leaving them unattended. The boy told police the girl approached him, threw hot sauce in his eyes and pulled out a large knife. The girl told police she threw hot sauce at the boy, but only after he spit at her. She also said the boy was the one with the knife. Police advised the mothers to make adequate arrangements to supervise their children in the future. Lawn care larceny Police are still looking for suspects after nearly $6,000 in lawn equipment was stolen from the Burke County Service Center the night of June 30. Police arrived on the scene after an employee reported a metal storage shed had been broken into. Deputies found a chisel, and took photographs of shoeprints left by the offenders.
