From the Blotter
Shocking behavior

A Waynesboro man who ripped a breathalyzer cord out with his mouth was arrested on three different charges Saturday.

Officers responded to a call of someone punching holes in the walls at the Liberty Street Subway, refusing to leave despite being told to do so earlier by officers.

Upon arrival, officers found James Cook, 25, drunkenly attempting to back out of the parking lot in his truck.

Officers arrested Cook after giving him a breathalyzer test showing a blood-alcohol level of 0.220. He agreed to take a state-administered test and was taken to the Waynesboro Police Department.

As officers began warming up the Intoxilyzer 5000, Cook leaned over and ripped the machine's power cord out of the electrical socket.

The machine was restarted and the test was given, registering Cook's blood-alcohol level at .214 and .209.

Cook was taken to the Burke County Jail and booked on charges of DUI, interference with a police officer and criminal trespass.

Threat 'n' Wild

A Keysville store employee found a note with four bullets and a shotgun case in front of the door last week. The note read, "You think you can walk over people this is war may the best man win you going down and going down hard."

The employee did not know for whom the message was intended.

In a Sardis case, a woman complained to police that her husband's ex-girlfriend had called her cell phone more than 100 times June 15.

The woman told officers that the offender had left a message on her phone saying that she was going to kill everyone and burn their house down.

And in Waynesboro, deputies responded to a complaint that a man was screaming in his yard June 15.

A neighbor told police he saw the man put a gas can to his nose and yell, "I'll obey you devil," and, "I'm gonna kill somebody."

Deputies confronted the offender, who told them he was looking for his dog.

The man was taken to his home and released to his mother.

The littlest bully

A Waynesboro grandmother called the Burke County Sheriff's Office after her 11-year-old grandson was hospitalized for being kicked and hit with a beer bottle by a 16-year-old boy.

When the grandmother confronted the offender, he told her the younger boy had been picking on him.

The woman told police she did not know the name of the older boy.
