Bears remain undefeated after weekend action
      Burke County's small size made little difference Friday night as the Bears trounced the much taller Greenbrier Wolfpack 71-55. The Bears remain undefeated (3-0) after their 60-49 win over Jefferson County Saturday. The Bears played Harlem Tuesday, but scores were not available at press time. This weekend, the Bears are at Liberty County Friday and host Evans Saturday.

Lady Bears split weekend games
      Erase the first period and the Burke County Lady Bears did not fare so badly against the Greenbrier Lady Wolfpack last Friday night. But that first period sealed the game. Jessica Davis hit two free throws for the only Burke County points in the period. Greenbrier, however, hit their first five shots, four of which were 3-pointers.

      A former Burke County resident will see his childhood dreams come true as he heads to the Georgia Dome for high school football state playoffs.

Spartans fall to Brentwood, Nat Greene
      With less than a week of practice under their belts, the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans went 0-2 to begin the 2006- 2007 basketball season, losing 43-22 against Brentwood High School last Tuesday, Nov. 28, and falling 41-31 to Nathaniel Greene Academy Monday night.

Players to compete in All-Star game Saturday
      Two Edmund Burke Academy football players have been chosen to play in the GISA All-Star game this Saturday. Seniors Chad Smith and Matt McDaniel are two of only 44 players selected to play in the game, which will be held at 1 p.m. at Cavalier Fields in Macon. Players were chosen from all classifications of the GISA to make the all-star team.
