Three vehicles involved
Two cars and a tractor trailer were involved in this accident on Highway 56 last week. According to a report filed by the Georgia State Patrol, a 2000 Plymouth Neon, driven by Robert Edward Dixon, 33, of Waynesboro, was traveling north when it rear-ended a 1985 Mercury Marquis as its driver, Ralph Winder, 32, of Hephzibah, attempted to make a left turn onto a private drive. The Mercury was sent into a ditch, and Dixon's vehicle rotated clockwise and entered the southbound lane where it was struck by a tractor trailer driven by Patrick Lee Mack, 29, of Waynesboro. The tractor trailer then skidded across both lanes for approximately 160 feet, went off the roadway and traveled approximately 230 feet more before coming to a stop in a wooded area. Mack was taken to Burke Medical Center, and Dixon received treatment for injuries at the Medical College of Georgia and was later released.
