Anthony "Tony" Basilicato

Anthony "Tony" Basilicato, 71, of Augusta passed away on Friday, May 5, 2006 at University Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waynesboro with Fr. Laurence B. Goulding officiating.

Mr. Basilicato was born in New Haven, Conn., on Feb. 15, 1935 to the late Anthony and Mary Grasso Basilicato.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and spent many years in designing electric vehicles and was very active in informing the public of his industry. He moved to Augusta two years ago and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Alphonse and Vincent Basilicato; and a sister, Alice Cave.

Survivors include his loving wife of 12 years, Anne Basilicato of Augusta; two sons, Anthony Basilicato of New York and Kurt Basilicato of East Haven, Conn.; two daughters, Marianne Sackman of California and Doralee Bohner of North Haven, Conn.; a sister, Aileen Kolinsky of North Haven, Conn.; a grandson, Christopher; three granddaughters, Ariel, Sabrina, and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Sunday, May 7, from 6-8 p.m. and a Rosary Service was held at 6 p.m. at DeLoachKennedy Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
