Midville Class Reunion

A Midville Class Reunion for all former students of any Midville schools will be held Friday, April 28 at McKinney's Pond with social hour beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

The following day, all are encouraged to attend the Ogeechee River Redbreast Festival and are invited to Midville First Baptist Church's Homecoming service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Services will be led by Dr. Michael Guido of Metter.

Diabetic Teaching

Diabetic teaching will be available at Burke Medical Center 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 13. Limited space is available. Partners or others who prepare food for diabetics are encouraged to attend.

Children with autism

A community workshop teaching Dr. Stanley Greenspan's method for working with children with autism will be held for professionals and parents 12:30-4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 15.

The workshop, sponsored by MCG's project LINK, will be held at MCG's Children's Medical Center conference center.

Walk for Autism

A new parent orientation meeting will be held Saturday,, April 15 at 10 a.m. at the Hampton Inn on Jimmy Dyess Parkway. The fundraiser provides educational scholarships for young children with autism that focus mainly on Applied Behavior Analysis.

Food Distribution

The CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority will hold a mass food distribution 9 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, April 25 at the Burke County Senior Citizens Center in Waynesboro, and 10 a.m.noon, Wednesday, April 26 at the Girard Senior/Community Center on Brigham Landing Road and the Midville Senior/ Community Center at Hwy. 17 and Kilpatrick St.

The food will be distributed until noon or until the food is gone.

The food is for low income or elderly people, and includes fruits, vegetables, canned meats and juices. Each family will be provided one bag.

Food is distributed on a first come, first serve basis and people must bring a picture ID, know their household size and know the monthly income for the family.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Friends of the Burke County Library will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt at the Burke County Library in Waynesboro Friday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m.

The event is for children ages 10 and under.

Girl Scout Camp

The Girl Scouts' Central Savannah River Council will host overnight and day camp opportunities for girls ages 5-17 at Camp Tanglewood in Columbia County. Week-long and mini programs will feature games, swimming, horseback riding, nature hikes, camp songs, arts and crafts, canoeing, archery and more.

Camp sessions begin June 5 and run through July 14.

UDC Memorial Service

The Margaret Jones Chapter No. 27 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will hold a Confederate Memorial Service at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 15 at Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The guest speaker will be David Moncus, and there will be a walking tour of the Confederate gravesites after the service.

The public is invited and refreshments will be served. Guests are asked to bring a chair.

Memorial Service

Col. John James Jones Chapter Children of the Confederacy will meet at Magnolia Cemetery Saturday, April 15 at 10:45 a.m. for the Confederate Memorial Day service.

SCV Memorial Service

The John C. Carter Camp 207 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will have a Confederate Memorial Service at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 23 at the Waynesboro Confederate Cemetery.

The guest speaker will be Steven Longcrier of the Georgia Civil War Trail Committee.

The public is invited and refreshments will be served. Guests are asked to bring a chair.

Class of '76

The Waynesboro High School Class of 1976 will have a class reunion meeting 5-6 p.m., Saturday, April 15 at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church (the old Waynesboro Primary School building).

Free legal help

The Georgia Legal Services Program provides free legal help to low-income people with civil (non-criminal) legal problems.

A staff person travels to Waynesboro the second Monday of each month. The next scheduled visit is 9 a.m.-noon, Monday,

May 8 at the CSRA EOA Burke County Head Start, 518 College St.

Relay for Life

The Sacred Heart Church Relay for Life team will have a bake sale 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, April 15 at Wal-Mart.

NAACP

The Burke County Branch of the NAACP will hold its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 15 at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Waynesboro.

Kindergarten

Waynesboro Primary School and S.G.A. Elementary School will register students for kindergarten April 12-14, with registration to be held noon-4 p.m., Wednesday; 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday; and 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Friday.

Students should be registered before the start of the school year.

Parents need to bring a certified copy of the child's birth certificate, the child's social security card, the child's eye, ear, and dental screening, the child's Georgia Certificate of Immunization and proof of residency.
