From the Blotter An inmate was transported to Burke Medical Center and treated for an injury after being struck by another inmate but doesn’t remember anything. Ronald Morgan Blackwelder, 20, an inmate at the Burke County Jail was struck in the trustee dayroom by Cedrick Sanchez Rhodes, 21, also an inmate, according to an incident report. The blow caused a deep laceration requiring medical treatment. Blackwelder reported to deputies that he was knocked out and does not remember an argument or what happened. Fly by A woman traveling on State Highway 80 was sprayed by a crop duster, according to an incident report filed at the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. The complainant, Patricia Etterle, said that a yellow crop duster flew approximately two feet above her vehicle and sprayed it with chemicals. She told deputies that her vehicle was not damaged at the time, but she was sure that the chemical would damage the paint on her vehicle in the future. Trouble with the spin cycle A fight among family members resulted in a broken washing machine Sunday. A Waynesboro woman reported that following a verbal disagreement between her and her son, he took an unknown part off her washing machine, and it will no longer work. The son was no longer at the residence when officers arrived. Officer assaulted A 64-year-old man looking to buy beer at a local convenience store was arrested after striking a police officer. Willie George Clay of Waynesboro was arrested for willfully obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer after he punched Sgt. Sean Kirkland with the Waynesboro Police Department on the shoulder. Sgt. Kirkland was responding to a complaint from an employee at the store. The manager of the store had instructed employees not to sell Clay any more alcohol that day, and Clay refused to leave the store. Sgt. Kirkland told Clay that if he had to buy alcohol to do it somewhere else, at which time Clay struck the officer. |
