Burke Happenings Class of 1980 The Waynesboro High School Class of 1980 will celebrate its 25th class reunion the weekend of Labor Day (Sept. 2, 3 and 4). The following activities are planned: Friday, Sept. 2 – Fellowship/ Get Acquainted Night, 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 120 in Waynesboro (across from BiLo); Saturday, Sept. 3 – Banquet, 7:30 p.m. at Augusta Towers (formerly Sheraton Hotel); and Sunday, Sept. 4 – Worship service, 11 a.m. at Oakey Grove Baptist Church in Evans; and picnic, 3 p.m. at Lock ‘n Dam shelter #3. Free legal help The Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) will have a staff person in Waynesboro 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Sept. 12, at Burke County Headstart, 518 College St. to assist people from Burke and Jefferson counties with civil legal problems. Community yard sale The Frog Wallow Community Yard Sale will be 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at the old S.G.A. school. Applications for booths can be picked up at any area business, and the fee is $5 per booth, which measures 10 feet by 15 feet. The deadline for the application to be turned in is Friday, Aug. 26. The yard sale will be held rain or shine. Gospel concert Restoration Quartet will perform in concert 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Midville School auditorium. Admission will be free. A love offering will be taken. SCV The Brigadier General John C. Carter Camp 207 Sons of Confederate Veterans will have its regular monthly meeting 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Mobley’s Restaurant. The meal is at 6:30 p.m. The camp will be celebrating its 15th year anniversary with a presentation of events and accomplishments over this period. The public is invited. BBQ and gospel sing Greenscut United Methodist Church will host a barbeque chicken and gospel singing 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the church. Family Fun Fest The Waynesboro Boxing Club Life Fitness Center will sponsor Family Fun Fest 2005 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3 at Davis Park in Waynesboro. The festival will include live music, a youth talent show, boxing and karate exhibitions, a speaker’s bureau for local officials and various water activities. Patrons have permission to setup personal tents and some local civic organizations will setup barbeque grills on the premises. Booth spaces are available for business owners and non-profit organizations for promotional purposes. Please submit your reservations and entries by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 to Waynesboro Boxing Club, P.O. Box 418, Waynesboro, GA 30830. auditions The Schoolhouse Players will hold auditions for “Sing Hallelujah!” 7-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 and Tuesday, Sept. 13, in the Bartow Community Center dining room.
