Progress Reports

Progress reports for the first mid-nine weeks will be issued for all Burke County school students on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

EBA chickenque

Edmund Burke Academy will sponsor a chickenque Friday, Sept. 23 for their Homecoming football festivities.

Plates will consist of ½ a grilled chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, roll and homemade cake.

Tickets are on sale now until Sept. 6 for $6.

Plates will be available for pickup at the concession stand near the football field from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Take-out plates for the evening meal will be available for pickup in the front of the school from 5-7:30 p.m.

Limited deliveries of ten or more plates will be made to the Waynesboro area.

Plates will be delivered to the Millen area for lunch and may be picked up at noon in the Millen Baptist Church parking lot. If you are interested in information concerning deliveries, contact Melody Oglesby at (478) 982-2071.

Women In Business

The Women In Business Council will sponsor its Young Women’s Career Day Thursday, Sept. 29.

The event is open to all 11thgrade young women who are chosen by essay.

The day will include a field trip to the Augusta Technical College campus, a tour of the campus, information from an area college representative, lunch catered by Bon Appetite and motivational speaker Ronda Rich.

The young women will also be treated to a fashion show by Dillard’s and makeup tips by Mary Kay consultant Angela Petrie.

Also, the Annual Conference will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Burke County Office Park.

The Col. John James Jones Chapter Children of the Confederacy will meet 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Meeting Place.

Grief recovery seminar

A Grief Share recovery seminar and support group meets each Wednesday at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Waynesboro, located at 853 Liberty St.

Grief Share features nationally recognized experts on grief and recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “When Your Dreams Fall Apart,” “The Seasons of Grief,” “When Your Spouse Dies,” “Your Family and Grief” and “Growing Through Grief.” For more information, call First Baptist Church (706) 5545156.

Genealogical Society The Burke County Genealogical Society will have its regular monthly meeting 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the new Burke County Library. Judy Goodson Mcalhany, executive director of the Richmond County Historical Society, will be the featured speaker. She will be discussing the Burke County records currently housed in the Augusta State University library.

Narcotics Anonymous The Waynesboro Group of Narcotics Anonymous will have its first meeting Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 8-9 p.m. at the Parish Hall of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 115 S.
