Mrs. Mary A. Carpenter

Mrs. Mary A. Carpenter, 92, of Waynesboro died Thursday Sept. 1, 2005 at Burke Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Marshall Singletary, AL Ellison and Gene Sheffield officiating. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro.

She was born in Jenkins County, Georgia on Aug. 2, 1913, to the late David and Daisy Landing Allen. Mrs. Carpenter had worked as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro. She was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Eastern Star and a member of many different church organizations over the years and was extremely devoted to her

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Joel M. “Billy” Carpenter, and her son, M. Ray Carpenter. She is survived by two sons, Louis Carpenter of Waynesboro and Larry J. Carpenter of Epworth.; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews,

Pallbearers were Donald Smith, David Smith, Marc Carpenter, Sean Carpenter, Jason Carpenter and Joel Carpenter.
