Bears prepare for season at camp

From Staff Reports

Sixty-one members of the Burke County High School football team are roughing the heat and preparing for the 2005 season at team camp this week.

The team arrived at the campus of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, S.C. Sunday, July 24, and participated in their first practice with pads on Monday.

Head coach Steve Summers said the practice went well and there have been no injuries.

"They all just want to tell their mamas hello and that they are doing well," he said.

The team is scheduled to return home Friday, July 29. Their first game will be a scrimmage against Hephzibah High School at home Friday, Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
