John Dinkins Jr.
John Rackley Dinkins Jr., 46, of Pleasant, S.C., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002.
Graveside services were 3 p.m., Friday, April 5, at Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro, with the Rev. Harold Rowland of Waynesboro and the Rev. Dr. Paula Buford of Atlanta officiating. Mr. Dinkins, a native of Augusta, was a graduate of Darlington School in Rome and the University of Georgia in Athens, where he received a degree in nursery management and landscape architecture. He owned and operated Landscape Specialties in Charleston, S.C., where he served as landscape specialist at several plantations and numerous historic sites in the Charleston area. He has previously worked at Park Seed Company in Greenwood, S.C. and The Tropical Patio in Hilton Head, S.C. Survivors include two sisters, Linda Dinkins of Martinez and Kathy Dinkins Evans of Marietta; his stepfather, B.K. Anderson of Midville; and a nephew, John D. Evans of Marietta. Pallbearers were Doug Cates IV, B. Lamar Murray III, Cleve Mobley, Jesse Stone, Rocky Rockwell and Thomas Black.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro or Edmund Burke Academy in Waynesboro.
