<@011-news copy:>
I hope if you are
on my e-mail list you have the lastest virus protection loaded on your
computer. Some jackleg sent me his or her "party pictures" which I could
not delete quick-ly enough before it started sending it to everyone on
my mailing list. Unfortunately, I had not updated my virus protection
either. I know many that it has not affected because I received their
mail undeliverable. I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused
you. The moral of this story is to keep your system virus updated at all
times no matter how long it takes!
****** I was saddened
to learn Suzann North passed away last week. Suzann is sister to Barbara
Hammett, Ronnie, Donnie, Wright and Bud North. She was a lovely person
whom many my age will remember. As a youngster she had either a hole in
her heart or a murmur which caused her to miss a lot of school. She grew
into a beautiful woman, mother and hard worker. Soon after graduation
she worked in the surveying field which was an uncommon profession for
women at that time. Her family was elated to know she had welcomed the
Lord into her life. She will be sadly missed by her family and a host
of friends.
****** I heard Mr.
Percy Dixon was out of the hospital and was seen eating at the Lake Restaurant
last Friday night. That is great news!
****** Congratulations
to Lee and Terrika Brantley's Sonic team. By the time you read this newspaper
they will have competed in the Dr. Pepper Sonic Games, an Olympic-style
competition in which teams vie for the Best Sonic Drive-In in the Nation
in Las Vegas. The Waynesboro crew is one of 10 teams nationwide competing
chosen from more than 1,800 other drive-ins by mystery shoppers who visited
the location and judged the employees without their knowing. Congratulations
to the team members: Terrika, Frankie Melton, Joey Scavone, Stephanie
Donaldson, Tracy Sikes, Leslie Pulley and Marquis Wimberly.
****** Congratulations
to Jack Williams of Waynesboro who captured the first bass tournament
of the year - Unified Bass Club Tournament Trail with a take-home prize
of $5,000. Williams sponsors include C&J Cleaners, Wesby's Personal Care,
Kennedy's Convenience Store, Green &Green Lawn Care, Jones Brothers Car
Wash and Hair Salon, Dixon Tire Co., Lynch Automotive, Lonnie's Towing
and Adam's Deli. Williams was among 100 participants in the two-day tourney.
****** I spoke with
O.J. Frazier Monday morning. O.J. is president of the Burke County Foster
Parents organization. O.J. expressed his thanks on behalf of foster parents
for assistance they received from area businesses, individuals and Waynesboro
Jaycee Empty Stocking Fund for a merry holiday for our foster children.
More foster homes are needed in Burke County. If you would like to know
more about becoming a foster parent, contact Susan Sheppard at 554-7751.
We
are compiling a new list of veterans. We need the names of all veterans,
no matter which war they served in. We need their name, branch of service
and the years they served. Special pages are planned for Memorial Day
either May 22 or 29. Please send names and information to:
